Join us for a fascinating morning uncovering the layers of Ousden’s history and landscape. This event offers a unique look at both the future of our environment and the treasures of its past.
10:00 AM – The Farm Walk
We begin at the Village Hall for a 2-mile guided circuit led by Estate Farm Manager, Graham Flux. Graham will showcase regenerative farming and sustainable practices in action.
- Terrain Note: Please be aware that the route uses working farm tracks that can be uneven, ridged, or churned up. This walk is not suitable for those with limited mobility or standard pushchairs.
- Suitability: Sturdy footwear is essential. We suggest the walk is best suited for children aged 8 and over, at the discretion of parents who know their child’s ability to handle rugged terrain. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
- Ask questions: Graham is incredibly knowledgeable and welcomes any questions you’ve been curious to ask about modern agriculture.
12:00 PM – Refreshments & Archaeology Talk
After stretching our legs, we will return to the Village Hall to relax and refuel where tea, coffee, sausage rolls and homemade cake will be on sale. Once everyone is settled, the focus shifts from the soil to what lies beneath it:
- Guest Speaker: Albi will present a 15-minute talk on the local archaeology of the area.
- The Finds: Albi will be bringing a curated selection of finds recovered from the very fields we’ve just walked through.
- Q&A: This is a relaxed opportunity to handle the artifacts, ask Albi questions about the history of the land, or continue the farming discussion with Graham.
